Kinda sad

this year... my mom isn't going to be here for Easter. It's ok - but it is weird to not have her around. I am cooking at home, and I did invite some friends over for dinner - so it's not like it's just me.

I have to go shopping for the boys. I still give them Easter baskets, even though Ty is 16 - I still feel like I should! Also I want to pick something up for my friend's daughter -she's only 4, and the cutest little thing and I'd like ot have something for her when she comes over.

Our celebration starts Friday night -we're having a Good Friday service at our church, Saturday I have a wedding shower to go to, and then Sunday morning we are having Easter breakfast before church (I'm making french toast casserole) - and then I'm having dinner at home with the boys. We used to go to the Cross walk in Orchard Park for Good Friday, but I don't know if we'll be doing that this year. Maybe just for Tradition's sake we should. I don't think we did it last year though.

We're going pretty standard and traditional with the menu this year. Ham, which I glaze with brown sugar, honey, and pineapple slices. I'm foregoing cherries this year since Crystal mentioned she doesn't like them. I'm also making my famous 'stuffed' sour cream smashed potatos, my mom's best italian potatos, and a to DIE for Raspberry lemonade cake (in celebration of spring).

I'm pretty excited as I love to entertain and really look forward to showing off my cooking skills. I'm no Paula Deen or Rachel Ray - but I still can cook a pretty mean supper! LOL

All in all I'm really looking forward to it.

So tell me - what is YOUR traditional Easter celebration?
