Ah it's that time again, the harvest and canning season! Now, I don't have a garden, a very conscious decision I made to resist over stressing myself with more than I can handle... but I do make frequent visits to the farmers market during this time of year, and when in a pinch - Wegmans always works too :)
right now I have 6lbs of peaches in my fridge that I'm going to make into Jam this afternoon, and I've already done cherry almond jam. Next on my list will be Carrot Cake Jam and Pepper Jelly. I didn't really make Pepper Jelly too much last year (Just 1 batch I think) because I had so much from 2007 left over, but now... we're down to just a few jars, and I'll need to refill our stock.
In Church today, one of our members who originally taught me to can, let me know he's getting ready to do corn again - YUM - and of course, if I bring him jars, he'd do some for me - YUM- do you know how good Fresh corn is in december when you KNOW you can't get it?
I have corn on the cob I got from wegmans on Friday in my kitchen - definitely going to have some for dinner tonight - though I have no idea what i'm making for dinner right now.
Shiori (our exchange student) will be here in 2 weeks! I can't believe how fast the time flew fom when we first chose her in April till now. She'll be with us until June and then I'm sure that will fly by really quickly also! So plenty to do getting her room ready.
Ok off to actually DO something instead of just hanging out at the computer. Vegging though.. is something I rarely do - but definitely need more of in my life. I'm actually thinking about putting it on the calendar! LOL No more multi tasking for me... just vegging.
