weekend madness

This has been quite the week/weekend, but I'm beginning to really understand that I do, in fact, do too much. For a long time that just seemed like the pace that life should be led. And I convinced myself that I was truly living life, and now it's become habit, and it's hard to say no. Slow down. Enjoy the small moments. It's hard for me! I only have one life to live, and time is spent, whether i'm productive or not, I can't get those minutes back. There'll be plenty of time for rest in heaven right?
ah, maybe. Well to be fair, some of these pictures are not from this weekend. Like this fabulous table top smores display. A  few weeks ago, Tye, his girlfriend Iri, her mom and I went to Taste, in East Aurora, and had a fabulous little hang out evening. The kids got smores, Tye got a cookie dough cheesecake, and Carmen and I both got the carrot cake. oh man, so good. I mean the company. The company was so good. lol No, the desserts too!

So here's a totally random thing - a couple weeks ago a pair of friends of mine got married :) Such a happy day. Actually this weekend another pair of friends got engaged - and I'm thrilled for both couples. Totally right for each other, and totally God. Anyway - the first couple, dropped this little gift off for me... have you ever seen a handheld scalp massager? Hysterical but pretty cool. The lotion is oh so nice too... so creamy and clean feeling. Not oily at all. I could just lather up in the whole thing I think.

Ah what else? Oh, the garage sale... yeah. With the move coming closer and closer, we really need to get rid of as much as we possibly can. I've got a lot packed up - and we've decluttered so much. Last summer I got rid of a ton, but still had a lot of stuff I know we won't need in the new place, so a garage sale it is! We did pretty good too. Made just over $100 and got a sun tan. Double bonus!

a few weeks ago I went out to hamburg for the "Burger Fest" and saw this fun little guy parked on one of the side streets. It made me smile, and long for a simpler time, and so I'm sharing it with you - fun huh?
And then, just because she's sitting so pretty in her sunspot, and happily letting momma take her picture, I'll share a pic of Sparks with you too :) She's not the loviest kitty, but she sure is pretty!
Right now she's not happy as we're working on the stairs, and so she's locked up for several days until the project is completed.
Big brother Cosmo hasn't quite got the hang of the spinning ball toy, but I believe one day he'll figure it out!
The front porch looks great - thanks to one of the guys at church - he really worked hard, sanding and painting it. You almost cant even tell that it's semi-collapsing on the right side - Hopefully people won't feel so intimidated by it when they are looking to purchase the house!

This just struck me as funny tonight. Ketchup. Apparently you have to declare that it's Gluten free. See, I would have just assumed that. Thankfully I'm not gluten intolerant, or I coulda gotten in trouble the next time I wanted ketchup on my gluten free hamburger!

We have a new exchange student, from Saudi Arabia. Nice kid, and helpful too :) Guess we'll keep him for a little while!

ok and how bout a little recipe? Lasagna rolls - quickie style. Forgive me, it's late and my whit is gone...

So start with 8 lasagna noodles and cook them almost al-dente. Maybe 8 minutes in salted boiling water.
Spread noodles with a mix of ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, seasonings (garlic, onion, salt/pepper), and mozzarella cheese. Add a sprinkle of browned ground beef. Then add a smattering of spaghetti sauce.

Then you can roll them up and keep going until all 8 of them are lined up in the pan.  I don't have a great pic of the finished product, since I threw them in the oven, and then left to do grocery shopping. Tye grabbed them for me and left them on the stove. They could have used a bit more sauce, but the flavor was tasty! Go ahead indulge. They were quick and easy to throw together, and tasted delish! They'd be great paired with a salad. Bon appetit!
