What's a little snow among friends?

Well this is {Buffalo}, where we basically have two seasons. Construction... And Snow.

And Snow... it did.

11" worth of snow in the actual city.
More elsewhere. I'm pretty sure my mom got a little over 16". But she's out near Syracuse.

I think we got around 3" per hour but it started out slow an picked up - peaking around 9:30 or so.

I was bundled up with hot cocoa & imagining a beautiful fire place... lol
This is the back deck last night, around 11:30pm, after it had been snowing for about 4 1/2 hrs.

And this is the deck this morning, around 6:30am after my son shoveled the first fall from last night.

Enjoy the pics! Btw this is from my phone so forgive the bad lighting and pic placement!

Fun!

So, tomorrow is Tye's birthday. He'll be 20. It doesn't even feel like that much time could have possibly passed since I first held him in my arms. Now, at 6' tall, 213lbs - he holds me when we hug :)

Since tomorrow is his Birthday, I'll wait to tomorrow to actually post his "birthday" pic... but for now, you can see what we're doing.

Tye is an "after school" counselor at the local YMCA, and of course, being super cool, and super fun, is one of the 'favorite' counselors.

Yesterday he said Mom? what are you doing tomorrow? oh... not much... being unemployed right now...lol He said, how do you feel about baking cupcakes for the Y? hahaha... um.. sure!

So, 3 boxes of cake mix, 3 cans of frosting later...we have about 75 cupcakes, one for every kid at the YMCA and maybe a few extra for some staff :)

I love being a mom - but I love being a friend just as much!

Snowy snowy Buffalo

Well, this is what we (as well as the rest of the North east) have been dealing with for the past 3 days. I have no idea exactly how much snow has fallen - except that we keep shoveling off about 6" at a time - trying to keep the deck clear, and the driveway clear, and the sidewalk clear. That's a big part of a corner lot... there's a lot of sidewalk to clear. My son has been the true hero in this because I don't have the winter wear to really stay out there long - my fingers get super cold and then they hurt bad. I have gloves, they just aren't very warm...

This is Tyler - The snow doesn't look like much here, but trust me -that fence and set of bushes behind him is 4' high, and well as you can see, it's almost as high as the fence where he's throwing the snow....

Here's a shot of the driveway... 1/2 shoveled out...
And lastly - the house all those dots on my camera are snowflakes. it's been snowing since before we woke up today and hasn't stopped for even 10 minutes...
