I am not perfect.
In fact, some days I'm pretty stupid. Sunday, in my rush to start something fun, I was exactly that.
Stupid.
Do you have to gasp so loudly? LOL
Seriously - that's her lovely Old White Paint. I was trying to do too many things at once and this is the result.
Listening to my Iphone. Answering a phone call accidently, with my ear buds in. Painting my son's new bed frame. Telling my exchange student to hang on because he was trying to show me an email or text. And then, wiping paint off of my phone.
Exactly. Stupid. Did you ever watch something happen and it felt like it was in slow motion? You saw it coming, You stood there. Helpless. Not knowing what to grab first? the bed frame? The can of paint? The nearest vodka bottle? (JUST kidding!)
So instead of taking advantage of the beautiful warm sunshine to finish painting the bed frame, so that we can get the house ready to show, I was scrubbing paint off the deck. And by scrubbing, I mean scrubbing. With soap, water and a scrub brush.
And now, I have another conundrum. The deck, had not been power-washed, sealed, or stained since before we moved in 5 years ago. Quite honestly I'm pretty sure it's been about 10 years since this fabulous deck has been even remotely cared for.
So after about an hour of scrubbing, scrubbing, scrubbing, the paint was off the deck, but also so was years of algea and other build up from weather and neglect. The area we scrubbed looked lovely! The area we didn't? Not so much.
Well, thankfully I have friends in the right places. I called a guy from church and he came over and powerwashed the whole deck for me for not too expensive - a steal right? I know! But my stupidity cost me $75 not including the cost of the bed, and this was supposed to be a "cheap" project.... *Sigh* Oh well at least the deck will look great for the new owners!
On a side note - I'm down but not out! My First Motivate Monday was sort of a bust - i.e. no one played along which made me sad... but hey... It'll get there! I'll be back next week again with some amazing new projects and motivation!
