An "accidental" Blog post

*sigh*

I am not perfect.

In fact, some days I'm pretty stupid. Sunday, in my rush to start something fun, I was exactly that.

Stupid.

What you see here, is about $20 worth of Annie Sloan Chalk paint.  All over my back deck.

Do you have to gasp so loudly? LOL

Seriously - that's her lovely Old White Paint. I was trying to do too many things at once and this is the result.

Listening to my Iphone. Answering a phone call accidently, with my ear buds in. Painting my son's new bed frame. Telling my exchange student to hang on because he was trying to show me an email or text. And then, wiping paint off of my phone.

Exactly. Stupid. Did you ever watch something happen and it felt like it was in slow motion? You saw it coming, You stood there. Helpless. Not knowing what to grab first? the bed frame? The can of paint? The nearest vodka bottle? (JUST kidding!)

So instead of taking advantage of the beautiful warm sunshine to finish painting the bed frame, so that we can get the house ready to show, I was scrubbing paint off the deck. And by scrubbing, I mean scrubbing. With soap, water and a scrub brush.

And now, I have another conundrum. The deck, had not been power-washed, sealed, or stained since before we moved in 5 years ago. Quite honestly I'm pretty sure it's been about 10 years since this fabulous deck has been even remotely cared for.

So after about an hour of scrubbing, scrubbing, scrubbing, the paint was off the deck, but also so was years of algea and other build up from weather and neglect. The area we scrubbed looked lovely! The area we didn't? Not so much.

Well, thankfully I have friends in the right places. I called a guy from church and he came over and powerwashed the whole deck for me for not too expensive - a steal right? I know! But my stupidity cost me $75 not including the cost of the bed, and this was supposed to be a "cheap" project.... *Sigh* Oh well at least the deck will look great for the new owners!

On a side note - I'm down but not out! My First Motivate Monday was sort of a bust - i.e. no one played along which made me sad... but hey... It'll get there! I'll be back next week again with some amazing new projects and motivation!

Magic Paste

*Edit Update*
08/28/12
I've started using this paste on everything! I used it on some nasty cookie pans, I used it on the microwave at work (GROSS), and I've used it on Silver! Yes, on SILVER! It is a fantastic little go to resource if you have dirty, nasty gross metal things that need cleaning. It takes a little elbow grease, and you have to be careful on Glass (it leaves a powder residue) but it really works great. Let me know if you have as much success as I did!

~ original post :)
ok so today was a sort of slow day at work. as in not much going on. Probably because it's a holiday week. So this left me lots of time to browse Pinterest and find interesting things to Pin. Some of which I do endeavor to use! LOL
Today's AHA moment came from a pin that originated from this blog right here - One Good Thing - where she demonstrated how to clean your flat iron. Yeah.

I'm that girl.

I flat iron my hair every single day, which is sooo bad for your hair, but when you've got fine, thin hair that just lays flat on your head, it does need some help. Ok not some. A lot of help. A lot.

Anyway I've had my flat iron now for about 4 1/2 years, and over the last year it's just really gotten gross, as you can see here, in the 'before' pics.
