Shopping!

Hey ya know it's a good time when you can go shopping and not be concerned about how much your spending right? :) That doesn't happen often around here, but I do try to make the best of everything and we certainly don't LACK anything. Anyway... that's not the point of this post.

So saturday my friend L met me at T's hockey game. We haven't seen each other since she and her daughter came over during christmas break for the movie and game day. That was fun! While we were chatting and she showing me pictures of her trip out to California for work (which from the pics it didn't look like she did much work...lol) we determined that we both had errands to run, & that we had to do them at a lot of the same places.

My #1 priority was to get a new winter coat. My coat the zipper broke on, it was a few years old and was really looking shabby and even though we've pretty much had spring all winter here, I had heard that Feb wasn't supposed to be nearly as mild (mid 40's) as we've had it, and that it was supposed to get downright frigid. Which today, was in the 20's. But since last year we had low teens and single digits - I'm not complaining!

L said I should go to Fashion Bug, and I never shop there, but she said she was SURE she'd just seen a sale of like 60% off their already clearanced coats and we could just check it out. Ok no prob. I took T over to his dad's after the hockey game and met her back at her place.

My #2 priority was to pick up a TV stand at Kmart that was on sale for like $50 cheaper than I'd seen it anywhere else. Actually I'd only SEEN it at one other place and it was $99 there. It was $39 at Kmart. So I got it. (Put it together monday night too and it looks great). I also got a nice framed picture for my one hallway, and some other stuff I needed. Cool. In case your wondering, my TV is only 19" (I'm not the worlds biggest fan of the idiot box) and it was sitting on top of a nice old antique table. However, with the addition of an Xbox, a DVD player, and a digital cable box, the poor table wasn't holding up well. Definitely we needed something sturdier.

So first L and I went to Kmart, I dropped like $75 there, but I got what we needed there, then headed over to Scholastic. You know, the ones that do all the school book fairs? they were having a great sale. There is one of their ware houses here locally. Every few months or so they have a sale. Nothing is their NEWEST lines, but still books never go out of style. I spent like $40 but everything I bought was like either $1 or $2. Only 2 books did I get that were $5 each, and they were over $15 retail before they were marked down. I Cleaned up - got some books for some of the kids at church, for my nephew, my son... and some I haven't decided what I'm going to do with them yet.

Then we went over to Fashion Bug. In the meantime JF called and said what's up for tonight. L said lets get dinner and a movie - meet us at my place at 5. Cool. it's now like 3:30. Plenty of time! LOL We go to Fashion Bug. She was right MAJOR sale. I set aside $60 for a new coat (figureing on a good sale). Well honey lemme tell ya. They had everything marked down 50%. Then it was take another60% off of the already reduced price! Holy cow I was in hog heaven I tell ya.

I got two coats for less than the price of the ONE I was planning on buying. One of the coats, the one I've mostly been wearing, is long and this brownish green puffy coat. BUt it's warm. The wind doesn't cut thru it one bit. It comes to my knees. Mostly cause it's a size too big, but I did that on purpose cause I want to be able to wear sweatshirts under it. It was originally priced at $109.98. Then it was marked down to $59.95, and then I got it for like $22. Can you believe that? Now THAT is a sale! The other coat I don't know what the original price was but it had to be close because I paid like $17 and change for it. I also got a really cool zipper sweater, and some other 'under' things I needed but it was a great great sale. :) I was sooo happy.

By the time we got out of there it was almost 5, and we went to meet JF. He was helping another friend move all day, and was running a little late. Thankfully cause we really werent there long enough to be 'waiting' for him ya know? We went over to the Mall, did some window shopping, bought our tickets for "walk the line". If you haven't seen that movie - you need to see that movie. It was really good. REALLY good. I now want the soundtrack. Did you know Johnny Cash was a Christian? and a very devout one too once he married June Carter Cash... I had no idea. I should have known since he did some great gospel and also recorded the bible on CD. Well tape. I'm sure they digitally remastered it to CD...lol

We went to Johnny B's for dinner. It's a cute little 50's diner in the mall. No wait, food was good, and it was fun.

I think it was all in all the best Saturday I've had in a loong loong time. I felt so happy and refreshed and full of life afterwards. Good shopping, good friends, good food, good entertainment all make me a happy happy girl :)
