I like Wed night service a lot. Not BETTER than Sundays, but definitely look forward to it. Since a lot of the members of our church don't go on wednesdays, the service is more intimate, my pastor is a bit less formal, and it seems like God is just there. They have prayer before hand, but I usually don't make it for that cause I'm waiting for mom to get home. But the neat thing about it is that when you get there, it's like God is already resting in that place. You can feel his joy and it makes you smile, and even though we're usually late and get there in the middle of the first song, you don't have to wait to feel his presence. You know, when your worshipping, the first song or two sometimes you're just not 'into' it yet. But on Wednesday, when you get there, you know he's there, waiting for you - kinda like Come on in, I've been waiting for you, - that kind of feeling. I like it. Alot.
So not much has happened, and life is slowing down again, even though work is picking up abit. We're changing health insurance companies, and we're getting big enough that I actually had to create 'employee' classes. Meaning some who are eligible for health insurance, some who have almost the whole thing paid for, some who get half paid for, some who aren't eligible at all.. and I had to delicately put this into a memo so that no one would feel discriminated against. That ain't easy. I work for a bunch of rednecks and I gotta tell ya, if they don't like you - they will find any reason to let you know. Thank you God that everyone gets along on the crew we're running now! Also, my boss and his wife just relocated to Florida. That's cool. Now the operations manager is running the place, he's not really my boss, I think we are more equals. We both make the calls - the shop is his, the office is mine. I like that I am not micromanaged here. Did you ever work somewhere that they wanted you to account for every minute of the day? Well not this place. Their philosophy is be good to us, we'll be good to you. They take care of their employees thats for sure.
We've had several companies bouncing checks on us in the past month. That's not good. I had to lay the line down on no more personal checks, no out of state checks, etc... that's really hard. We've had such an open door policy and it really hurts the little guys. But I'm just at the point where if you can't provide a credit card, or money transfer, we don't want your business.
Speaking of not wanting your business... C was looking for Yellow Teaque (sp?) today. He found some at company XYZ. But we don't have an account at company XYZ. So we had to overnight them a check, for like $500. big deal. Ya know when you have accounts that are low 5 digits, you sniffle at a measly $500 check ya know? But whatever they wanted it overnighted. I gave it to M to overnight. She got it all ready and left it for UPS to pick up. Only they didn't see it when they made their pickups. So it got left on the counter. Mistake #1.
Company XYZ is having inventory this week. If it didn't ship by today, it wasn't shipping. So M calls XYZ and speaks to E. E says they can't release the order without payment. (Like we're goign to GO to Brazil or something with the measly $500 in wood right?) M says can we fax you a copy of the check we cut and w'ell make SURE it goes overnight tonight. Yes. Fine. Only M spends all day trying to fax to them and the stupid fax won't go thru. Comp XYZ calls me at like 2:30 and says where is the check you promised? I explain the problem. They refuse to release the order. Can we give you credit references with our BIG wood suppliers? No. Can we give you a credit card? ??? Silence. It took the woman 10 minutes to decide if we could or not. (Mind you I leave at 3pm normally). She says yes, she's goign to transfer me to S. S gets on the phone and takes all the information. Then says, well I'll have to fax you this, and you'll have to have the owner of the company sign for it. Um... see paragraph above where I say Owner is relocating to Fl? NO Computer, NO Fax machine, no anything except Cell phone right now. he's MOVING. ON THE ROAD moving. Across the country from NY to FL! UGH.
Company XYZ insists they can't accept the credit card w/out signature. I say we take credit cards ALL the time without signature. That is not their policy and they will NOT ship without payment. THEN controller gets on the phone and tells me she is a very busy woman and doesn't have time to deal with this $500 order. Ok so can you tell that I'm getting quite upset at this point? (Like I'm not busy!) Sooo I tell her fine. I'm busy also and we can't get an agreement I'm going to see how BADLY we need this yellow Teaque. (Of course it figures that they are like the only company in the country that has it right now). BUT They were just bought out by company ABC which we have a very large credit line with. Tomorrow I'm going to call company ABC and find out what the deal is exactly...
My guess?Company XYZ is looking at soon not having any jobs and just didn't want to be bothered with a 'measly' $500 order before inventory. My blood pressure is down now and i'm calm and it's almost comical.
My nephew M was over today. He's so cute. Today was mystery homework where he gets to 'pick' what he wants to do. So he was doing Facts. He's 6. His facts looked awful and spanned about 10 pages of computer paper, but it was funny! He came to church with us. He dances like a lunatic during worship. His head rolls around - you'd think the boy was posessed by something. No he's just making himself dizzy... I mean yeah we're one of "those" churches...rofl but still. Not THAT bad that the 6yr olds are affected that badly! LOL I think he just likes the excuse to burn off some of that energy.
I went shopping this weekend. Boy is this post getting long! Maybe I should make the shopping post the next one...lol
